The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has ordered the distribution companies (DISCOs) of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) to commence immediate supply of meters paid for by customers dating back to January 2011.
The order is to be complied with in the next 44 days as failure to do so will attract a sanction on the chief executive officer of the defaulting DISCO, NERC said in a statement.
The order is a component of the directive to DISCOs to start the implementation of the Credited Advance Payment for Metering Implementation (CAPMI) starting from May 14, which seeks to fast-track the deployment of meters to customers on estimated billing system.
