The Eko Distribution Company of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) at the weekend, appealed to customers to help in safeguarding its equipment. It said that vandalism of its equipment was on the rise in the zone.
Ademola Adegoke, its Principal Manager, Public Affairs, who made the appeal in Lagos, said that members of the communities could not be exonerated in the event of vandalism of PHCN equipment. “I advise communities in the zone to organise themselves into groups to protect our common possessions, some of which are PHCN equipment. Our customers should network in such a way that they speedily report anyone found tampering with PHCN facilities, “ he said.
Adegoke also urged residents in the zone to report to the Police any PHCN offi cial conniving with vandals to damage PHCN properties. “The business manager’s offi ce is ever open to such report. Government has spent millions of naira to repair all the damaged cables. Every member of communities under our jurisdiction is a stakeholder in this quest to fi ght vandalism, “ he said.
