Nigeria’s Power Minister, Professor Chinedu Nebo, says the country needs no less than N335 billion to have a new super national grid.
Also, Nebo said the country’s electricity sector presently suffers a huge deficit in terms of availability of engineers saying the sector needs atleast 8,000 engineers to make the sector functional.
The power minister made the disclosures while speaking at a meeting with the Senator Phillip Aduda-led Senate Committee on Power.
Nebo, who lamented the decay in the sector, said something urgent needed to be done to save the sector from an imminent total collapse, adding, “What is being done presently is mere patching.”
