02 May 2013, Yenagoa – The Bayelsa State government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MOU, with IPP Energy Limited and GMB Leasing Partners for the development of a gas-powered, 100 megawatts power station in the state.
Governor Henry Seriake Dickson said at the signing ceremony that the development was a proof of his government’s commitment to boosting electricity supply in the state to make it an investment haven.
According to him, the project, to be sited in Ogbia Local Government Area of the state, would deliver uninterrupted power supply to residents of Bayelsa, setting the pace for industrialisation.
“The gas powered plant, which will be located at Imiringi in Ogbia Local Government Area of the state, has the capacity to achieve the feat when completed. I am delighted to be a witness to the consummation of this partnership today.
