Momas Electricity Meters Manufacturing Company Limited (MEMMCOL), a metering and technological solutions company, has disclosed that its newly-established electricity meter manufacturing plant in Ogun State will solve alleged metering exploitation and provide effective metering mechanism for the country.
The company, MEMMCOL, which commenced a 1.2 million-per annum, electricity meter manufacturing capacity plant at Orimerunmu, along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Obafemi-Owode Local Government area of the state also disclosed that it would proffer effective solution to Nigeria 2.5 million energy meter deficit.
MEMMCOL was incorporated in 2011 to manufacture energy meters, develop vending and management services applications and support services in the country.
Speaking during a factory tour by the Ogun State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Chief Bimbo Ashiru, ahead of the plant inauguration at the weekend, Managing Director of MEMMCOL, Mr. Lucas Scaraffiotti, said the company which has been "active in energy metering for more than 15 years in Nigeria", was set to establish ten metermanufacturing plants in six countries in Africa.
Scaraffiotti said the energy metering company, through the targeted ten meter manufacturing factories in Africa, including South Africa, Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, Senegal and Nigeria, would address the perceived deficit African metering market, especially in Nigeria whose untapped metering market and meter gap currently stood at 20 percent.
The Managing Director, who assured that the company would adopt local content policy and start the metering programme drive in Nigeria, said the company had already adopted cash less policy in the acquisition and subscription of its prepaid meters and other services, adding that the company has PHCN, would-be electricity distribution companies (DISCOs) and general meter consumers as customers.
He said that the company rendered metering and systems software services, design, installation, training, IT infrastructure, payment validation among other electricity-related services, adding that the company had already developed electricity-related systems software for PHCN in Kano, Kaduna, Abuja and Enugu.
