President GoodLuck Jonathan has said that the implementation of the power sector roadmap would not only engender efficiency and stable power supply, but would rescue the sector from endemic corrupt practices.
The president observed that deep rooted corruption contributed to the rot in the industry which has virtually paralysed efforts at growing the national economy.
Speaking at the 41st Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) in Lagos yesterday, Jonathan said his administration was committed to the ongoing power sector reforms highlighted by the national Integrated Power Projects (IPP) framework.
Represented by the Minister of state for Industry, Trade and Investment Dr Samuel Orton, the president noted that under the reform, priority attention would be given to the rejuvenation of generation and transmission networks with a view to modernising the power sector for optimal reliability and service.
