Bauchi — Workers of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) under the auspices of National Union of Electricity Employee, yesterday embarked on an indefinite industrial action to compel the zonal office of the PHCN to stop deduction of 7.5 per cent as pension contributions from their salaries.
Bauchi State chairman of the union, Comrade Mujahid Muhammad, said the strike which led to the closure of their offices is due to the insistence of the management to deduct 7.5 per cent of workers' salaries, an action he claimed is at variance with an earlier agreement reached between the management of the PHCN and the union.
