The Implementation Committee for the Settlement of Entitlements of Workers of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) has stated that nearly 93 per cent of the workforce in the electricity sector have been validated and cleared for the payment of their benefits. This equates more than 43,400 workers.
The committee said this in a statement on Monday, signed by the Special Adviser, Media and Communication to the Minister of Power, Kande Daniel.
The committee further commended the cooperation of the workers, as the last few steps towards the payment of their benefits were taken.
It stated that it was still working on the records of the remaining staff.
It also said that personnel whose records had passed the biometrics test had also been issued Benefit Statements showing their expected terminal benefits.
“They are to make necessary corrections and return the statements to the committee within one week,” the statement said.
According to the statement, “furthermore, in order to enable the workers to understand the process of computation better, committee members have been on a sensitisation tour of the different geographical zones.
