The minister of power, Professor Chinedu Nebo, has appealed to Nigerians to be patient with President Goodluck Jonathan as he tries to transform the power sector. This was just as said that the roadmap to achieve it was being implemented determinedly.
The minister stated this when a team of senior staff members of LEADERSHIP Newspapers Group Limited visited him in Abuja, yesterday.
Professor Nebo maintained that substantial progress has been made towards an optimal electricity generation mix with generation capacity increasing from about 3, 500mw to 4,500mw. He said that there had been an increase in the average hours of power availability in some major cities around the country.
The minister said, "If you do not have patience, you will not know something is going in the power sector; a lot is happening and unfortunately nobody will believe us until we deliver; there is hope and I am excited that soon the problem will be solved. We have hit 4 500 mw.
The minister commended LEADERSHIP for its factual report on power sector and advised it to continue to practice responsible and responsive journalism.
