Rather than get better, the epileptic nature of electricity in the country seems to be getting worse, despite the huge resources so far committed to the power sector. Will the power situation in Nigeria ever get better?
Last week, what appeared to be a confirmation of the worst realities which many Nigerians have had to live with came to the fore, when the Minister for Power, Professor Chinedu Nebo admitted that only 25 per cent of Nigerians have access to electricity.
Prof Nebo, who spoke after a recent meeting of the Federal Executive Council, admitted that the power situation in the country in the last three weeks had been a “nightmare” due to a combination of system failure and sabotage.
