Nebo proffers solution to Nigeria’s power problem

The newly appointed Power Minister, Prof. Chinedu Nebo yesterday proffered what he termed a lasting solution to the nation’s electric power quagmire.
Speaking at a power stakeholders’ forum with the theme: ‘Bridging the infrastructure and energy deficits in Africa’ organized by the African Leadership Magazine in Abuja, Nebo stated that, for Nigeria to crawl out of its age-long power crisis, a diversification of a wider supply mix of the nation’s energy sources must be given critical consideration.
According to him, this is one sure way to attain Nigeria’s Vision 20:2020 permutation on power put at 40,000 megawatts.
Nebo who was represented at the forum by his Special Assistant on Access to Power, Dr. Albert Okorogu, regretted that while the power sector remains a veritable market and opportunity for potential investors, it is disheartening that the output of the sector in Nigeria still remains inadequate and constitutes a major road block to the socio-economic wellbeing of the nation.
He said this informed the Federal Government’s renewed implementation of the power sector reform, which has given due consideration to the alternative power mix.
